This new addition differs in that it uses Alnico V magnets instead of the ceramic magnets of the original. Because the JAX utilizes Alnico V magnets coupled with short, squat coils, the tone is endowed with openness and warmth for a more vintage tone, all with less noise and more signal. We have no doubt that the new JAX, with its natural presence, powerful lows, expansive midrange, and superior definition, will be as successful as its predecessor. The X series provide increased headroom giving the voicing an organic and open tone while still maintaining the clarity and response that EMG's are renowned for. X's are best described as bridging the gap between passive and active tone.
