    What pickups should I buy for my Telecaster?

    There are several factors you need to consider when buying a Telecaster pickup. You need to decide if you want true single coil or a hum canceling pickup. You need to consider the output of the pickup and you need to consider the magnets that are used. Budget is also an important factor!

    What are the different pickups on a Telecaster?

    There are two pickups on a Telecaster -  one is close to the neck and the other is close to the bridge at an angle. The pickup selector allows you to choose which pickup to activate.

    Are there active and passive Telecaster pickups?

    Yes, there are both active and passive Telecaster pickups. A passive pickup requires no battery and is how guitar pickups have worked since day one. Active pickups require a battery to power the onboard preamp that gives the active tone. We sell both active and passive strat pickups.

    Can I put a Strat pickup in a Telecaster?

    No, you cannot put a Strat bridge pickup in a Telecaster bridge as the mounting and sizes are different. A rare exception is the three pickup Telecaster known as the Nashville Tele. This pickup uses a Stratocaster sized pickup in the middle position.
